These by-laws are the rules and regulations that govern Everest Aquamation Inc. (the “Aquatorium”) and have been approved by the governing Board of Directors. These by-laws comply with the provisions of the Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services ACT, 2002, Bereavement Authority of Ontario.
Until changed by the Board of Directors, Administrative Office hours of the Aquatorium shall be as follows:
Monday to Friday – 9AM to 5PM EST excluding holidaysOnly human remains will be received for alkaline hydrolysis.
Identification of the deceased shall be made by a licensed funeral establishment or transfer service prior to the delivery of the deceased to Everest Aquamation.
Prior to hydrolysis taking place, the following documents must be completed, signed and approved by the proper authorities and delivered to Everest Aquamation:
1. Aquamation Contract/Application
2. Coroner’s approval to cremate (Cremation Certificate)
3. Burial PermitA deceased person will only be aquamated if devoid all non-biodegradable external medical material and waste (intravenous lines and bags, bandages, catheters etc.)
Defibrillator must be deactivated prior to delivery of remains to Everest Aquamation.
Material accompanying the deceased that is not biodegradable will be discreetly removed and disposed of prior to the deceased being placed in the aquamation vessel. Everest Aquamation will not be responsible for any jewelry, personal items or other material accompanying the deceased. Any items that are to be returned to the family must be removed prior to arrival at Everest Aquamation. A retrieval fee will apply to attempt to locate any items following aquamation. Everest Aquamation offers no guarantees that items can be retrieved following the aquamation process.
Everest Aquamation is prohibited from:
1. Performing hydrolysis on more than one (1) person at once
2. Performing hydrolysis on human remains with that of animal remains
3. Co-mingling hydrolyzed human remainsEverest Aquamation will provide aquamation hydrolysis services for a body with radioactive implants, or microscopic radioactive isotope implants such as theraseeds, provided it has been at least two years since the body received the implant. Everest Aquamation reserves the right to ask the family to provide the Brachytherapy Implant Card from the deceased’s wallet / personal effects or provide a note from the doctor that confirms the date of the implant.
Everest Aquamation is not liable for any delay in aquamation beyond its control. In such circumstances, Everest Aquamation reserves the right to secure the deceased in a receiving area until aquamation can take place.
Urns will not be held or filled. Following aquamation, the hydrolyzed remains will be placed in a temporary container.
Any metal residue, identifiable body prosthesis, bridgework or similar items will be separated and recycled or disposed of by Everest Aquamation.
Caskets are not accepted at Everest Aquamation.
